For evacuation of power from Palatana Gas based Generation Project in Tripura, the 400 KV Transmisison Project from Palatana to Bongaigaon via Silchar has been constructed. The transmission line en route its traversal is connected to Burnihat in Meghalaya and to Azara in Assam.

The transmission system disperses the power generated at Palatana by OTPC and Bongaigaon by NTPC in the states of North Eastern Region and also strengthen the trunk- interconnection with various states.

The transmission line therefore carries a great significance for the development of North Eastern regional grid.
